A Handmade Song is a commissioned song written by Katy, and co-created by you!

Here’s how it works:
You and Katy will schedule a 45-min ‘Song Inspiration and Planning Meeting’ to talk about your ideas for your Handmade Song.
You’ll share about the person or occasion for which you’re commissioning the song, and Katy will engage in active listening, note-taking, and questioning so she understands your vision and inspiration.
Then Katy will go to work crafting the song!
She will email you a rough draft version for you to approve.
After you give the thumbs up, Katy heads into the studio to record it as an acoustic track (vocal and guitar)!
Katy will then send the audio mp3 file to you, as well as a PDF document of the lyrics so you can use as you wish in packaging your ‘gift of song’ for your special someone/occasion.

Start to finish, this process takes approximately 4-6 weeks. After your virtual planning meeting with Katy, she will work on writing the song and will reach out with a rough draft for your approval within 2 weeks. Then the recording studio will be scheduled and the song will be recorded, mixed and mastered, and sent to you as an MP3 file within 2-4 weeks after the ‘rough draft approval’.

Keep in mind that Katy’s Handmade Songs are vocal and acoustic guitar, and that any other instrumentation (i.e. percussion, bass) is at Katy’s discretion.

The investment is $497 and includes the 45-min virtual planning meeting, Katy’s time and loving attention to write the song, and Katy’s studio time and associated costs.

Great question! Handmade Songs are for personal use. You are welcome to share your song with anyone you’d like, but make sure to credit Katy. Katy owns the copyright to your Handmade Song and reserves the right to use it as she sees fit (i.e. on her website, on a future album). If you would like to purchase the copyright to your Handmade Song so YOU own it forever and always, you may do so for an additional $1000*. *Please inquire about corporate pricing.
